The Bentley Improvement Group was formed as a trust in 1997 and registered as an Environmental Body with Entrust. The aim has been to acquire funds from Landfill Tax sources in order to provide support to other Bentley groups or individuals that undertook to improve and enhance the environment of our village and the local countryside.

During the life of the trust the trustees have been Mark Usher, John Blackmore, John Wheals and Michael Anderton (Treasurer) and the only source of income has been from Shotley Holdings Ltd., the operators of the landfill site at Tattingstone.

In accordance with the resolution passed at last year's annual meeting of the trust and with no further funding available, the trust’s assets have been disposed of by payment to the remaining registered projects. The trust has subsequently revoked its Entrust registration and the Trust Agreement has been dissolved.

Since 1997 when BIG was formed £32,316.80 in Landfill Tax contributions has been received from Shotley Holdings Ltd. From this, grants amounting to £31,815.60 have been paid out in support of the following village projects: -
