Dodnash Wood

Bentley lies in beautiful wooded countryside on the edge of Constable's Dedham Vale
and the Shotley Peninsula. The village is situated between the A12 and A137 roads, 7 miles from
Ipswich and 14 miles from Colchester. The history of Bentley
has been well documented by Suffolk County Council. There are also pages dedicated to the War Memorial and an old picture collection has been started. On the Postcard page you will find a recent picture of somewhere in Bentley

A bus service passes through the village whilst other services
are available through Capel St. Mary. If you are arriving by car, please park with care and
consideration; parking for visitors is usually available in the village hall car park when
not in use. The Bentley Bugle is the village newsletter and is
produced bi-monthly. | |
Refreshments can be obtained from the Case is Altered public house or the Little Chef restaurant on the A12.
Unfortunately, The Post Office Stores is now closed. |

 |
Information about Parish Council activities together with other notices,
events and news occurring in the area can be found on the notice boards outside the old Post Office Stores.
A welcome letter for new residents is also produced by the council.
The Bentley Improvement Group was created to provide
resources from Landfill Tax to support environmental benefits for the community, but has now closed down. Bentley Village Hall is in regular use by many organisations; a new hall has recently been built and provides a base for several organisations and additional facilities. |

The Bentley Circular Walk is 3 1/2 miles around
the outer edges of the village with short cuts back to the centre like
spokes of a wheel. Most of the route is off road with one short cross
field section and is well marked with yellow circular walk arrows and sign posts
to guide you in either direction. A leaflet is available from
The Case is Altered.
